Board member; Executive Board member; Vice-President of Education,
Communication, Membership and Retention;
current business-retention committee member; member and dedicated
volunteer of the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce
since 1990.
Planning Commission:
First appointed as a Planning Commissioner in January 2001
unanimously by the City Council and Mayor;
unanimously reappointed in 2002, 2004,2006 and 2008.
Current Vice Chairman and past Chairman of the Planning Commission,
chairing 30+ public hearings as it relates to our
development guidelines and the General Plan for the City of San Marcos.
Attended California League of Cities training for Planning
Commissioners.
As Planning Commissions Chairman, I instituted new training protocols for
all Planning Commissioners,
including Sheriff/Fire Department workshops, CEQA Guideline education,
Community Service updates including updates
on parks/recreation, Vallecitos Water District, San Marcos City Schools,
and other public speakers.
Chaired many high-profile meetings including the contentious and
dividing Wal-Mart hearing and San Marcos Highlands.
